Merry Christmas 2016 and a Happy New Year for 2017

As the year comes to a close we all like to assess what we have achieved over the past year and what we would like to achieve in the year ahead...

I say where has the year gone, it has proceeded faster than I expected and therefore I am happy with my achievements with my sewing and classes..

Just remember if you have your health, family and happiness life is good....

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Light pad cover fun

I hold project days once a month and the ladies requested a light pad cover, therefore I devised this for them, I am however going to put a handle on this, but have yet to get around to it.
Attaching fusible to the wool hexagons.

Having fun placing the colours.

Quilted through the hexagons to hold on to the coloured hexagons and hold the batting to the lining.

Binding put on.

A pocket at the back for the recharging cord.

Thanks for visiting happy stitching

Snuggle quilt

Its time to get back to the snuggle quilt designed by Anni Downs, this was started for my 1st daughters 21st, alas it  Was put away and now as she is turning 23 she has been asking about the progress. It's half done and as it is just piecing it is relatively easy but a bit boring in the sewing department.  But my push this year is to get some of those projects out of the way.  Do you find it hard to contain yourself and not start a new project, I certainly do with lots of plans in that head of mine, however I am being disciplined.

Happy stitching thanks for visiting

Yum! Jelly Stars and Pickles

The Jelly Stars  is finally together and back from the quilter... Binding ready to put on but I have lost the border fabric that I was going to bind in... I'm sure it will turn up ...

I think they all think they had a part to play in making this quilt

Quilted circles look perfect with this.

With the Pickledish I liked the look of the full piece of fabric in the middle inserts instead of the cut pieces having seams that do not always meet in the middle..  I think I need one more row before I put the border on?  What do you think a border or not?

I am quite pleased with the ease this jelly star quilt has come together..  An easy quick quilt with the look of difficulty.... The pickle dish was a fun quilt to make a lot of work but worth the effort...

Rested and ready for Winter

Just back from 10 days being lazy around the pool in Fiji rested and relaxed ready for Winter.... missing that sun though, it was 30  32 most days and 1 hour of rain in total for us, I now feel like I have had a summer...

Sofitel Fiji resort

I achieved a small amount of stitching on my life is beautiful blocks.  Since being home I have achieved the housework and enjoyed the last week of the school holidays with the girls....

I am currently working on the Foxley Village block of the month Natalie Bird's BOM,

Work is also continuing on the Flower blocks I have 7 complete now.

A group of ladies are heading to a sewing retreat next weekend, so I am preparing for that as I am organising.

Flower garden Progress

As its now May I keep thinking I have blogged lately but alas as I see its been April since my last blog.

I have been stitching away quietly with lots of ideas and creativity to get on with new projects.... But I am trying to finish what I have half done or ready to send to quilters..

My quilt flower garden by Kim McLean is slowly coming along and I have some of the blocks with there pieced borders attached.  There are now 8 blocks done and one row together..

Flower Garden by Kim McLean

Foxley Village is being worked on and it is a slow progress at the moment as I have not got around to the applique for blocks two and three but progress so far ....

I am also working on the Baltimore block that has been hanging around for a long... time
I have started putting a border around this ..
My Baltimore

As winter is approaching the cold has encroached us quicker than we all would have liked, but it does give us more stitching time inside without feeling guilty...

EPP QAL finish

It's done! I have completed the last block of the EPPQAL Helen Stubbings at www.hugsnkisses.net

It has been a fun journey into the world of shapes and appliqué paper, well worth a go if you haven't already. However I still feel there is a place in my world for needle turn appliqué.

Blooming Felt .... divine blooms

This week I was lucky enough to secure a place in a class with Wendy Williams whom the Stitching Post in Arrowtown was hosting.  A friend and I headed off to stay in our little abode and stitch to our hearts content,  Along with sunshine and stitching what more could a girl want?

Wendy Williams was a fabulous tutor and we had a lot of fun creating shapes and embellishing these ready to stitch onto a project.

Here are some of Wendy's quilts, we even got to see some new ones which I cannot show you as she hasn't released them yet.

I was so busy stitching and creating I just plain forgot to get photos of the quilts in full.
I did however photograph my work in progress.

This is a very addictive process and extremely portable so I can see this will go into the portable projects box ready to grab at a moments notice for those pickups and sports days and whenever I need to be occupied.

I also grabbed the odd pattern of Wendy's as you know girls you have to support these designers especially when they are so divine.

The photos do not do the patterns justice but as i need to run now and do lunches breakfast they will have to do until i show you my finished projects, haha hopefully they won't sit too long in the cupboard.

Happy stitching

Stitching circles for life is beautiful

Circles galore for life is beautiful.....  Stitch the stitcheries and then make the four square blocks .... Then form the circles .... Appliqué them onto the four square blocks .... Cut out the back of the stitcheries to obtain the circles for the alternate blocks.... Then cut out the smaller circles for them to be appliqués in the corner of the joining blocks ... And we'll it's coming together..... Just another WIP

Stitch the stitcheries

Make the four square blocks

Appliqué circles on then cut out the back and you get....

These are then appliqués onto the alternate blocks

Then cut out back as before and you have a smaller circle to be used for corners

As shown here....

JUST BEAUTIFUL....

How is your quilting/crafting/stitching going?
